The Critical Thinking Exercise On A Critical Pathway

Communication is the transfer of information from person-to-person, perception and understanding, as well as trust, respect, and empathy are essential to creating and fostering effective communication (Huber, 2014). I will discuss the critical thinking exercise in our text. I will describe communication problems occurring with the development of a critical pathway, and to whom the responsibility of these problems fall onto. Furthermore, I will discuss team behaviors, and leadership and management strategies to resolve conflict and improve communication and relationships. What is the Problem? Whose Problem is it? Two problems exist in this exercise. The first is ventilator-dependent patients being discharged to home with multiple complex care needs, without a critical pathway for that transition of care. The second problem is the lack of multidisciplinary interest in providing input to developing a critical pathway. Successful implementation of a critical pathway depends on the involvement and investment of all relevant staff to ensure proposed aims are achieved (Lacko, Jarrett, McCrone, Thornicroft, 2010). Patient care is a multidisciplinary team approach. Therefore, the responsibility for the development of this pathway falls on all members involved in the care of ventilator-dependent patients. America loves a scandal. After all, what do most people think of when this question is brought up: What does Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy have in common, besides the fact that they were both Presidents of The United States of America? They are men who excelled in their job yet both had a blemish on their previously near perfect reputation that society viewed as a letdown. Both men had scandals that involved women; Monica Lewinsky and Marilyn Monroe. I strongly believe that society judging the career of these men based on their scandals is wrong. Counseling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you and helping you find ways to deal with emotional issues. Talking in such a way it is rarely possible with family or friends, who are likely to be emotionally involved and have opinions and biases that may be detrimental to the success of the counseling. It is important that the counselor is not emotionally involved with the client and does not become so during counseling sessions. The counselor neither judges nor offers advice. The counselor gives the client an opportunity to express difficult feelings such as anger, resentment, guilt and fear in a confidential environment. The counselor may encourage the client to examine parts of their lives that they may have found difficult or impossible to face before. There may be some exploration of early childhood experiences in order to throw some light on why an individual reacts or responds in certain ways in given situations. This is often followed by considering ways in which the client may change such behaviors.Effective counseling reduces confusion, allowing the client to make effective decisions leading to positive changes in their attitude and/or behavior. Effective counselling is not advice-giving and is not acting on someone elses behalf. The ultimate aim or goal of counselling is to enable the client to make their own choices, reach their own decisions and to act upon them accordingly. And as well as counseling, there are many other types of psychological therapies or talking therapies that involve a person talking about their feelings or problems.
